Introduction to the role of Production Coordinator
I had the chance recently to talk to individuals interested in production management in person in Cardiff and virtually via Zoom to those attending in Leeds, Newcastle and Manchester.
It was all part of the 'Introduction to the role of Production Coordinator' taster days run by NFTS Leeds & NFTS Cymru Wales in association with the BBC, which will be followed by FREE training in the Production Coordinator role in November & December.
How to write a CV for the Film & TV Industry
Breaking into the Film & TV industry is notoriously difficult. There’s a huge amount of competition for entry level roles, so what can you do to give yourself the best chance of getting those roles?
One of the most important things to do is to create an engaging CV that sells your skills and experience to get you through the door. However, putting together a CV for the media industry can be difficult, especially as they look very different to a CV used in any other industry. So take a look at my top tips
Mentoring 4 Screen
I’m excited to say that the Bectu Cymru ‘Mentoring 4 Screen’ scheme is returning for a second round starting in June/July and finishing in January 2022. If you get a place you’ll get 6 monthly mentoring sessions with an experienced mentor in your field. I’ll be helping those who are looking to go down the Production route.
Taking the Time to Reflect
How often do you take the time to reflect on how far you’ve come?….I’m guessing it’s not that often!
The TV & Film industry is so fast paced that when we are working on productions we don’t have the capacity to be thinking about anything else and when we come to the end of our productions we are just looking for our next role.
How I got into the Industry
It’s coming up to a year since I launched Media Career Advice and I’ve been so busy in that time that I haven’t even written a blog post! I’m going to try and get a new blog written every 1 – 2 months as there are lots of subjects that I want to share with you all from industry insights to tips and tricks based on my experience.
I thought I’d kick them all off with a bit more about my career and my route into the TV industry. Cue embarrassing photos!
