Mentoring 4 Screen

Over the past 6 months I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring two freelancers through the Bectu Cymru ‘Mentoring 4 Screen’ Scheme. Both were looking to make a move in their career and it’s been incredibly rewarding to be able to guide them through this move and see them progress. See below for a lovely testimonial from one of my mentees:

“The mentoring arranged by BECTU was such a great opportunity for me and it came at the most perfect time! My mentor Hannah was so great on so many levels and filled me mostly with confidence that I lacked after taking a 3 year career break. Each session was tailored to what I needed and the advice Hannah gave really changed me on a professional and personal level.

I have been able to overcome some barriers at work and was successfully selected for a BBC training scheme and I feel Hannah did a lot to help me get to that level where I could go for things that I would have previously hesitated or avoided altogether!

Thank you BECTU for such a wonderful scheme and I hope it carries on every year and helps others who are starting out in the sector.”

Yeota Imam-Rashid, Assistant Producer

I’m excited to say that the scheme is returning for a second round starting in June/July and finishing in January 2022. If you get a place you’ll get 6 monthly mentoring sessions with an experienced mentor in your field. I’ll be helping those who are looking to go down the Production route.

It’s only open to Welsh residents and there is a Q & A Session where you can find out more on the programme taking place on Monday 28th June on Zoom - 7pm to 8pm.

The programme is led by Bectu Cymru and supported by ScreenSkills, the industry-led skills body for the UK’s screen industries, using National Lottery funds awarded by the BFI as part of the Future Film Skills programme.
