It’s my Birthday!
It’s been a whole year since I officially launched Media Career Advice!
Since I launched I’ve ran a total of 21 courses and trained 230 people. I’ve supported 37 people on a one to one basis with their careers. I’ve mentored 3 individuals over 6 months through BECTU Cymru’s Mentoring 4 Screen and Coleg y Cymoedd. I’ve took part in webinars which a total of 130 people attended. I also took part in my first virtual careers fair for the RTS which saw a total of 365 people visit my booth. I’ve got 230 subscribers to my monthly newsletter and a staggering 498 followers across all of my social media which is absolutely amazing!
Mentoring 4 Screen
I’m excited to say that the Bectu Cymru ‘Mentoring 4 Screen’ scheme is returning for a second round starting in June/July and finishing in January 2022. If you get a place you’ll get 6 monthly mentoring sessions with an experienced mentor in your field. I’ll be helping those who are looking to go down the Production route.
Taking the Time to Reflect
How often do you take the time to reflect on how far you’ve come?….I’m guessing it’s not that often!
The TV & Film industry is so fast paced that when we are working on productions we don’t have the capacity to be thinking about anything else and when we come to the end of our productions we are just looking for our next role.
How I got into the Industry
It’s coming up to a year since I launched Media Career Advice and I’ve been so busy in that time that I haven’t even written a blog post! I’m going to try and get a new blog written every 1 – 2 months as there are lots of subjects that I want to share with you all from industry insights to tips and tricks based on my experience.
I thought I’d kick them all off with a bit more about my career and my route into the TV industry. Cue embarrassing photos!

Mentorship programme to Empower Next Generation of Welsh Female Leaders
For the second year running I’m one of the mentors at Coleg y Cymoedd, South Wales (you can just see me at the back at one of our mentors meals last year). The aim of the scheme is to support and empower the next generation of young women to fulfil their education and career potential. It will span over the academic year and I will be mentoring a student whose aim is to get into the Film/TV industry.
