2 Years Old
I can’t believe how quickly this has come around, but I’m celebrating the 2nd birthday of Media Career Advice on the 3rd June!
I can’t quite comprehend what a busy and incredibly exciting year it’s been. I’ve had the chance to run many short courses including my 1 & 2-day courses and 2hr courses with ScreenSkills, plus do a handful of talks and one to one advice sessions.
Most of the year has been taken up with running the fantastic ScreenSkills ‘Production Co-ordinator Training Programme for Unscripted TV’ which is a 12-month long programme which aims to address the skills shortages of Production Co-ordinators. I’ve trained a total of 89 people across 7 cohorts in Cardiff, Bristol, London, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds & Belfast. It was great to run this training in person and I really enjoyed meeting everyone in each city. They are now undertaking mentoring and placements with the ultimate goal of become Production Co-ordinators at the end of the 12-month long programme.
This also allowed me the opportunity to bring on board a brilliant team to help deliver the programme and it’s been so lovely to deliver the programme with them. It’s made a change from me sitting at my desk on my own and they’ve all been phenomenal in supporting the trainees.
Alongside the training, I’ve also been taking part in personal development to ensure I’m delivering the best possible training courses. Between Nov – March I’ve been completing the ‘Level 3 Education & Training’ course run by Claire Collins Consultancy and Screenskills. The qualification will recognise me as an outstanding training in my field and I should have my certification in the summer.
Since June last year I’ve ran a total of 41 courses and trained 506 people. I’ve completed 11 one to one sessions to help individuals with their careers. I’ve took part in two talks that saw 110 people attend. I’ve now got 507 subscribers to my monthly newsletter and a staggering 785 followers across all of my social media which all in all has made it a very productive and busy year!
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported me this year, whether it was attending a course or talk, a one to one session, or just liking and sharing posts. I wouldn’t be here without your support.
My third year is going to be a much quieter one work wise, but much busier in life as I’m due to welcome a new arrival in August. Less sitting at a desk and lots of nappy changing and feeding instead. I’ll be starting back with some ScreenSkills short courses in Dec and I’m hoping to then resume my short courses from the new year. These will all be announced via my newsletter and social media so keep an eye on those. I’d also love to add more courses to my slate, so do keep an eye out in the second half of 2023 to see what new courses are hopefully coming.
It’s been an incredibly exciting and rewarding journey so far and I’m really looking forward to expanding the courses I deliver. Thanks for coming on the journey with me and thank you again for all of your support!
